10th Series - Test Dog - Razor's Buckshot "Shooter"

Flyer - Very good flyer
 
Left Flyer - Shooter went across the point and angled up the far shore. With a couple of loops, he went up to get the bird.
 
Middle Retired - Shooter went along the backside of the right gunners and up  the hill to the tree line. He worked his way along the top to get his bird.

Right Flyer - Very good recovery
 
Middle Retired - Bess waffled a bit on her entry to the water. She exited the pond and went across down deep of the flyer. She was helped to this bird.
 
Left Flyer - A good initial line getting her over the point where she came off the back side. She went across the pond to the far shore where she begins a line up and is helped to the bird.

9th Series - Test Dogs

Shooter and Larry came to the line at 8:53 am

Flyer - Shooter went through the pond and up the hill to arrive at the flyer hen that landed close to the guns.

Right Retired - He went through the first piece of water then angled down to the second larger piece. Shooter got behind the right gunners and went around to the bird.

Middle Retired - He went in the water the over the dam to angle across and out. He pulled right and started a hunt but successfully located the bird.

**The dogs are received below the mound to keep it dry.

Bess and Mark came to the line at 9:11 am.

Flyer - Bess went up the hill breaking left at the gunners. The back drop of the gunners and fall area drops off so the dog may be out of sight briefly. Bess got her long flyer.

Right Retired - She went through the pond angling the corner of the next water. She came to the bales for the left retired and stared a fast hunt that carried her over to the long right bird.

Middle Retired - Lining towards the back side of the gunner, Bess crossed the water and went up to be handled to get her bird.

8th Series - Test Dogs

FC-AFC LJ’s Renaissance Queen, BLF “Bess” handled by Mark Littlejohn
Mark and "Bess" came to the line at 10:01 am - completed at 10:15 am

Shorty - Very good.

Right Retired - Entered the timber, a brief hunt and came back with the bird


Left Flyer - Right of the brush, hunted with multiple passes expanding left, was handled to the bird.

Right Flyer - Just under the arc of the fall, Bess began hunting deep and was handled back to the bird.

Larry and "Shooter" came to the line at 10:16 am - completed at 10:27 am

Shorty - Straight to the bird.

Left Flyer - Coming along the front of the retired guns he made multiple loops extending out to get his bird.

Right Retired - Out through the water, back around the right of the guns and then back left to the bird.

Right Flyer - Through the arc and a little high he enters timber, climbs the hill to the gunners then back down for a couple loops and onto his bird.

7th Series Water Blind - Test Dogs

6:58 am - Larry Vaske and "Shooter"

Shooter got his first whistle to angle
down the hill and then another on the flat to get event with the gunners. The fourth came at the edge of the water with the last as a check down.
 
 

7:01 am - Mark Littlejohn and Bess

Bess got the first whistle to angle down the hill with one more coming on the flat. Two whistles came to push her just past the brush with another two at the gunners. One more whistles came at the edge of the water and with one more to follow to while in the water.

6th Series Water Quad - Day 2 - Test Dog

The handlers were invited to look at the line as the gunners take test throws and shots. There are no clouds today so the judges waited a bit for the shadows to clear and the glare from the rising sun to reduce.

The temps are starting in the 60's today and the wind is out of the northeast at 9 mph. There is no dew on the ground, so the scenting conditions will be the same throughout the day.

8:42 am - Labrador Female "Bess" test dog came to the line.

Right Flyer - Bess angled towards the flyer but than squared up the hill to come in behind the gunners. She was handled to the bird.

Left Flyer - Bess was in the field under the fall and worked the area close to the gunners. She began to expand her hunt pattern then got her bird.

Short Retired - Nice recovery on her bird.

Long Retired - Her line took her up the backside of the gun hide. she had an extended hunt and came into the bird.

6th Series - Test Dogs

Labrador Female - Bess came to the line at 7:38 am.

Right Flyer - Bess makes a quick recovery of her hen pheasant.

Long Retired - She went in to the water but squared out of it. She moved up the hill to retriever the dean hen pheasant.

Short Retired - She ran up the backside of the left retired gun and was handled back to the dead hen mallard.

Left Flyer - She went across the pond and up the hill then entered the area under the arc and was handled to her rooster flyer.
 

Labrador Male - Shooter came to the line at 8:07 am.

Right Flyer - Shooter made a quick recover of his flyer.

Left Flyer - Shooter moved through the pond and up the far shore to grab his bird.

Short Retired - Shooter entered the area behind the gunners hide where he turned left to get his bird.

Long Retired - A good line out, Shooter entered just under the arc then went left to grab the bird.

Shooter moved to the honor box.

Series 4th & 5th - Land Blind & Water Blind - Test Dogs

 Shooter & Larry came to the line at 9:43 am.

Land - Shooter went over the brush then got 3 whistles to keep the line by the levee, then 1 more under the drip line to the blind.

Water - Shooter got over the road to the edge of the water. Taking 1 whistle to get in the water, then 2 more to get to the 1st point. One more whistle came a bit early on the point, then one more to get Shooter off of it. Shooter another whistle to get back on and one to get back off the point. Taking 2 more blows to the second point with 3 more to try for the last piece of water.


Bess & Mark came to the line at 9:54 am.

Land - Bess took two blows from the whistle to get over the brush and two more at the base of the levee. She got one more under the drip line and two at the bird.

Water - Three whistles to get Bess in the pond and five to move her to the left of the point. Another two whistles to get to the 2nd point that carried her off the point and to her bird.

2nd Day of 3rd Series - Water Triple - Test Dog

Our female test dog, "Bess," came to the line at 6:50 am.

Flyer - She recovered her bird.

Right Retired - Bess went along the left of the bales and continued to cross the channel. A look along the shore and she went down to get her bird.

Middle Retired - Her line took her through the corner of the pond and she angled her line right to the area of the fall. She got up the incline and came back down to her mark.

***The judges opted to wait 10 more minutes for the lighting conditions to improve.

3rd Series - Test Dogs

1st Test Dog - Bess with Mark Littlejohn came to the line at 7:08 am.

Flyer - Bess cuts through the pieces of water. A couple tight loops and she has her hen.

Right Retired - Bess came in under the arc. She swam past the bird and had a tight hunt. She found the gunners and worked her way back to get this bird.

Middle Retired - She had a nice line across the pond, making a smart angle to the right and on her bird.

Bess sat for an honor at 7:18 am.

2nd Test Dog - Shooter with Larry Vaske came to the line at 7:18 am.

Flyer - Excellent effort getting through the channels and right on his bird.

Right Retired - Shooter headed straight for the hay bales. he swam across the channels coming out off the point to grab his bird on the shoreline.

Middle Retired - Shooter had a good initial line. He began to angle right then squared across the last piece of water that put him up on the brim where he got wind of the bird.

Scooter waits in honor box at 7:27 am

The judges decided not to have an honor due to the extra time it would take.

Test Dog Two - FC-AFC LJ’s Renaissance Queen; “Bess” handled by Mark Littlejohn

 2:22 pm

Bess took three whistles to get through the slot by the first bale and two more to climb the hill to her bird.

***Warning from the judges - Dogs who run beyond the stick will be out of sight.

Test Dog One - Razor’s Buckshot; “Shooter” owned and handled by Larry Vaske

 2:20 pm

Shooter took 2 whistles to adjust the line by the first hay bale. He then drove the hill to the bird.

Shooter and Larry came to the line at 7:06 am.

The fog has dissipated and is only sitting a top the pond behind the flyer gunners.

Flyer - Lovely high flyer - Shooter made quick work of his bird.

Right Retired - Shooter went out deep in the area. A couple loops deep, he came back to get the rooster.

Long Middle Retired - His initial line put him angling right of the gun station. shooter made a great correction prior to the gun station and moved towards the area of the fall to retrieve his bird.

The test took Shooter 5 minutes and 15 seconds.

Bess and owner/handler Mark Littlejohn came to the line at 6:58 am.

Bess got a no bird on the left retired bird. They sent her to the holding blind until the gunners got it picked up.

With the light fog beginning to settle Bess was back up to the line at 6:59 am.

Long Middle Retired - Hard to see the bird, but the muzzle flashed visible. Bess launched and went down the line to pick up the rooster perfectly.

Right Retired - She angled nicely through the mowed strips to come into the area under the arc of the fall. She held the area for a tight hunt to grab her bird.

Flyer - Bess's initial line was to the right. She corrected it by making a couple of early whistles that moved her towards the flyer. Another whistles and she was in the fall area for the rooster.

This test took Bess 6 minutes 28 seconds.
